Synonyms

There is a darkness penetrating our beloved English language; an act so discreet and common that we rarely even pause to take notice.  It is the creation of a synonym to make humankind’s malice, palatable.

Synonyms began as an innocent system by which to choose an alternate word (that had the same or similar meaning) to describe a person, place, thing, action or idea.  A word-play technique used by poets and storytellers to more colorfully comment on life and the human condition.  However, somehow this process has morphed into a method by which our society white-washes heinous acts.  For example:  thievery (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act), murder (medically unnecessary late-term abortions) and most recently, heinous perversion (Pedosexuality).
Last week, as the media lustfully did his bidding, the author of The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure, Phillip Greaves II, carefully replaced the  word  “Pedophile” with  “Pedosexual.”  I won’t bore you with the details, but in case you missed the story I have included several links below.  I would however like to include a small, but significant section from the CNN.com article:
True pedophiles love children and would never hurt them," Phillip R. Greaves II said in a phone interview with CNN on Wednesday. When asked if the self-published e-book was a "how-to manual," he said, "there are certain parts that are advisory," which set out lines that should not be crossed. Penetration is out. You can't do that with a child, but kissing and fondling I don't think is that big of a problem," he said.

In the title's Amazon.com product description, Greaves described it as "my attempt to make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certian [sic] rules for these adults to follow.
"I hope to achieve this by appealing to the better nature of pedosexuals, with hope that their doing so will result in less hatred and perhaps liter [sic] sentences should they ever be caught," he said.
As I read through Greaves delusions, I can’t help but get sick to my stomach.  On what planet is it acceptable to EVER “fondle” a child in a sexual manner?  Herein lies the problem with semantics.  His pitch for “Pedosexuality” attempts to attach the connotation of a lifestyle choice, a sense of normalcy, and a ‘movement’ worthy of rights and compassion.  The very notion of “Pedosexuality” is not only a crime, but an evil that needs to be stopped dead in its tracks.  Last week it started with a word, a book and a company willing to distribute said book.  Next week it will be a movement calling for rights, federal protection and global acceptance.

Child abuse must NEVER be marginalized.  According to http://www.childhelp.org/ , “A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. Almost five children die every dayas a result of child abuse.  More than three out of four are under the age of 4.  About 80% of 21 year olds that were abused as children met criteria for at least one psychological disorder.”

As you read this blog, a child is being forced into a soul-crushing sexual situation by a bottom-feeder who lacks self control.  America, we need to call a spade a spade . . . or more specifically, a pervert - a criminal.  I am choosing to boycott Amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles and Borders this holiday season.  If a moral compass isn’t guiding these companies, maybe one less greenback will.
