Ron Paul: The Republican's Bastard Stepchild

Anyone with half a brain knows that most of the major news organizations are not only biased, but choose a favorite candidate far before the presidential election takes place:  CNN and MSNBC favor the left, FOX favors the right and so on.  However, the coverage (or lack thereof) of Ron Paul's success in Iowa over the past few days is fascinating - they are ALL pretending that he doesn't exist.   What are they so afraid of?  I don't know about you - their distrust makes me want to investigate this guy a little further.

The reason the GOP hates him is that he elucidates the Libertarian viewpoint so crisply and isolates it from those in the GOP who claim to want a smaller federal government but will then use the federal government to oppress, tax and control peoples' lives: state religion, gay marriage, drug control, federal taxes, massive Defense spending and worldwide intervention and aggression. The GOP pretends to maintain this stance, but only really uses it to court social conservatives, cut taxes for the wealthy and deregulate industry to provide higher profits. It's about votes.

Democrats disregard him because he is a purist whose sole answer to everything is "smaller government" when the world is a much more complex place.

What I love about this guy is that he's stumping both sides and the media is clearly frightened by him. This makes him a far more interesting candidate to investigate.

this is great. i had a friend pose the question the other day... romney or perry? i said what about ron paul?!?!?! he's the only one i'd vote for PERIOD! I told her... he's got the right idea, seeminly good plans, and i'll get on board with what he's saying, but it's like those ross perot die hards no matter how much he tried and what he spent it just wasn't enough to win. i fear that's what a vote for ron paul would be a throw away. shrugs, it's sad.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Something's got to be done to shake up the two party system and it has to begin with a few lost elections. These parties are destroying our nation. What's funny - is that Ron Paul is about as Republican as I am. . .not so much. lol.
